An article in the October 7, 2012, edition of
The Dallas Morning News on Page 1J by
Cliff Garinn asks the question “Which gets an employer’s attention - Objective Statements or Summary Profiles?”
In previous blogs I have written that hiring
managers typically need help and may not be particularly interested in an
applicant’s career objectives. This
article seems to confirm my thinking.
Garinn provides the following suggestions:
Things you can list in your summary:
·
Highlight of relevant
experience
·
Unique skills/qualities
·
Awards/accomplishments in
past jobs
·
How many people you
managed
·
Anything that shows you’re
absolutely qualified!
Some things to consider:
List any computer skills you have that are needed in the job
· Any Proficient in MAC or
PC Software
· Foreign languages
In other blogs I have discussed the value for an individual
to develop a list his/her person objectives in order to conduct a focused job
search; however, this list of objectives is for personal use not necessarily to
be shared with the hiring organization.

Buzzwords need to be avoided in resume. Objective should match to the job position to which you are applying.
