Prepare for the Interview

An article in The Dallas Morning News in the July 3, 2011, issue on page 1J, “Employee Perks are Beneficial to Companies” by Amy Winter, Creators Syndicate includes a closing discussion which I think is the important section of the article for job seekers.

“As job seekers get ready for company interviews, they try to learn how to present their best skills and knowledge. But being unprepared can make the interview difficult.’’ “What is the top mistake that job candidates make during an interview?”

Based on a survey by Accountemps, one major mistake is that candidates have little or no information about the company they are interviewing. Job seekers should take time to research the company so they can exhibit knowledge of the company’s objectives and goals. In addition, the applicants should be prepared to discuss their skills and experience.  Further, they should be ready to describe their career plans and goals.  Candidates should remember some basics: good eye contact, arrive on time, exhibit enthusiasm and sincere interest in the company and its opportunities.

Please share with readers of this blog your interviewing suggestions for job seekers.

Thanks!
